Chooose the Best Trade Show Display for Your Needs

Choosing a trade show display is a major decision for all companies, large and small.  No matter what the amount you pay, if the display does not fit the company requirements, you have wasted money.  There are many things to know before you decide which display is best.  For example, what is the size of the area you will be displaying in, how many shows will you attend yearly, will you need to travel to multiple show locations, do you need to change up graphics often, will you be displaying product or services, do you fill a display area or just need a back wall, and are the shows indoor or outdoor?

If you want to be truly educated on the subject, take a few minutes and learn about the differences between the various types of trade show displays.  There are quite a few on the market, and you will need to define your company requirements to find the right one.

Starting small and basic, you have the traditional pop up display.  This is normally a curved or straight back wall and will span 5’-10’.  It is called a pop up because the frame expands accordion style and the graphics attach via magnets or Velcro.  These are inexpensive and easy to ship because they are compact and light weight.  Setup/breakdown is a snap and can usually be accomplished by 1 person.  These are normally used in a 10’x10’ display area and setup in the rear portion of the area.  This will leave room in the front area for a table, marketing collateral, and additional marketing pieces such as banner stands or flags.  They graphics can be laminated panel or a single piece fabric.  They will attach to the frame with magnets, Velcro, or pole pockets.

A panel display looks similar to a pop up, but is normally frameless and utilizes the “panels” as the frame.  These are great for retail displays and offer many display and storage options.  You would normally attach graphics with Velcro directly to the fabric of the display.  You have many fabric color options for the panels themselves and should have little problem finding a complementary color to your company logo.

A modular display is a fantastic unit if your show requirements include multiple size display area because these displays are made up of smaller modules, or components which can be interchanged depending on the show requirements.  These modules include monitor mounts, accessory tables, shelving, display walls.  The unit can be set up as a flat back wall, or can be angled in such ways that they completely fill a display area.  Graphics can be a combination of fabric, which will attach via pole pockets, magnets, Velcro, or a press in silicon bead that allows for a seamless look and feel.  If you go with laminated panels, they will attach directly to the frame by Velcro or magnets.

Truss displays are the ultimate modular display.  These are very similar to lego toy systems in the ways they can integrate to form endless configurations.  These systems are very durable, normally heavy, and can support quite a bit of weight safely and securely.  These units are used when the display requirements include multiple audio video components, a second floor, heavy duty lighting, or display of large product.   They are constructed of aluminum or steel and can support numerous graphics of all mediums which can be attached in a variety of ways.
