We’re in full swing on the 2012 trade show season and it’s time to make sure you’ll present well and look your best at the next show or shows you do. You’ve studied up and implemented Impact’s Trade Show Tips. And you’ve probably planned to have great product information in the trade show booth – maybe even samples or demonstration units. And you have the main messaging you want to get across – you know what you’re going to say.
But don’t forget HOW the message gets across – what does it look like and is it fresh – when you’re making sure you’ll convert as many attendees into buyers. First, ask yourself when you last replaced your trade show graphics. If it’s been more than a few shows or more than 18 months, there’s a good chance they look tired. This usually isn’t because they were poor quality – it’s just that as a printed media, they don’t last forever. Use, storage, transport and simple age will generally make them look tired. You may not notice – but a lot of your prospects might. When all the other trade show booths have vibrant, new graphics, you’re going to have to work extra hard to get traffic into your booth. Is that why you’re going – to work extra hard? Didn’t think so.
Next, think about the composition of your graphics. Images tend to work better than text for attracting attention – it’s a proven engagement model. So consider using stylized product examples, images and illustrations instead of a lot of text. Remember, your graphics (and the whole presentation of the message) isn’t designed to convey the entire idea – it’s just to get prospects interested so they stop at your booth. Then you get to engage one-on-one.
So think about updating your trade show graphics if they’ve become worn, dated or just to present a fresh, visually interesting image of the company.
